Lesson 6 FAITH

We've learned from Romans 10:17 (Amplified) that faith in God comes by hearing the Word of God (or what Jesus preached concerning God).  We'll never be able to put faith in what God wants to do until we discover what that is.  We are called to know what God's will for our lives is by reading His Word.  God's Word is His will.  1John 5:14-15 (Amplified) says, "And this is the confidence (the assurance, the privilege of boldness) which we have in Him; (we are sure) that if we ask anything (make any request) according to His will (in agreement with His Own plan) He listens to and hears us."  Verse 15 goes on, "And if (since) we (positively) know that He listens to us in whatever we ask, we also know (with settles and absolute knowledge) that we have (granted us as our present possessions) the requests made of Him."
The Apostle John made those statements by the inspiration of the Holy Spirit in order to give us faith to pray and to have faith in what we pray.  We've been taught to pray the simple kind of prayer of,"Lord, if this be your will.".  This isn't what the scriptures say.  John said that we're to have assurance that we have the Father's ear because we know what His will is.  Because we've never had faith in understanding what God's will is, we've lacked faith in our prayer life.  We've been taught that "you never know what God will do," but that isn't what the Word says about it.
When we discussed the watermelon seed and the mustard seed, we learned you must have faith the seed will produce what it says.  Isaiah 55:11 (Amplified) says, "So shall My Word be that goes forth out of My mouth; it shall not return to Me void (without producing any effect, useless) but it shall accomplish that which I please and purpose, and it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it."
Just like the mustard seed will bring forth the large plant or the watermelon seed will bring forth fruit, so will the seed (Word) of God if we will have faith in its purpose.  Every farmer must have faith in what is inside the seed in order to ever produce a crop.  When you observe the watermelon seed, you don't see the watermelon, but only the seed.  When you sow the seed you must have faith that it will produce the harvest.  You'll only sow the seed if you have faith in the seed.
This is the simple message that Jesus conferred to His disciples.  Everything you desire to harvest is in the seed.  Although you cannot see the harvest yet, have faith in the seed.  If you already have the harvest, then you wouldn't need the seed.  If you don't have faith to sow the seed, then you'll never receive a harvest.  When you have faith to sow the seed (the Word), it brings forth more than one seed.  How foolish would it be to till the ground, spend the time and effort, put all the labor in your field and sow only one seed, just to have it produce only one seed in return?  In the same way, when you take the Word of God (the seed) in faith and by faith, you understand that whatever you're believing for in your harvest is in the seed.
We are faith people.  We operate in faith all the time.  We just don't apply what we know into the realm of God from which it came in the first place.  It seems like when it comes to God, our faith must be a different and we complicate it with religion.  Keep your faith simple like Jesus said to do.
We don't have a problem believing that a kernel of corn will produce corn.  We don't have a problem believing that a watermelon seed will produce watermelons.  This is the simplicity of faith.  It works!  Why then, do we have a problem believing that God's Word (or this seed) will produce what He said it would produce.  1Peter 1:23 (Amplified) says that, "You have been regenerated (born again) not from a mortal origin (seed, sperm) but from one that is immortal by the ever living and lasting Word of God."  He said the seed that produced a family of God was the seed or sperm of God was the Word of God.
Jesus Himself said as much in John 12:24 (Amplified), "I assure you, most solemnly I tell you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it remains (just by itself, alone); But if it dies, it produces many others and yields a rich harvest."
Jesus was speaking by faith in the seed (which is Himself) that by His dying (being planted as a seed), He would become the source of a Harvest of family to the Father.  At the time Jesus spoke this, He was called "the only begotten Son."  In Romans 8:29 (Amplified) we read, "For those whom He fore knew (of whom He was aware and loved beforehand) He also destined from the beginning (fore ordaining them-John 3:16) to be molded into the Image of His Son (and share inwardly His likeness) that He might become the firstborn among many brethren."
This seed, Jesus, the Word of God, was sown into the earth, died and brought forth unto God (the Husbandman in John 15:1) a harvest (or family) just like the first seed.  Romans 8:16-17 (Amplified) says that, "The Spirit Himself (thus) testifies together with our own spirit (assuring us) that we are children of God."  Verse 17 goes on, "And if we are (His) children, then we are (His) heirs also; heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ (sharing His inheritance with Him) only we must share His suffering if we are to share His glory."
This One seed, Jesus, produced a harvest unto God.  Every seed produces after kind is the law of Genesis 1:12 (Amplified).  We know that that law works in the natural world, but it's also a spiritual law!  You would never plant an apple seed and expect and orange tree to grow.  An acorn can never produce anything but an oak tree.  Corn always produces corn, wheat always produces wheat.  The Son of God "the Seed," always produces children of God.
I can plant the same kind of watermelon seed and I will always reap the same kind of watermelon.  They're not the same watermelon, but they're the same kind of watermelon.  When Jesus became the firstborn of many brethren, I became like Him.  I am not Him, but I am like Him.  I am not The Son of God, but I am a son of God.  This also is a faith seed.  If we can believe or have faith in every seed produces after its kind, then we have to believe by faith that the incorruptible seed (the Word of God) produces the same kind of produce every time like1Peter 1:23 says.
Once we receive by faith, the truth of God's Word, then it becomes easier to sow into the soil of our heart (spirit) the seed by faith for healing, joy, strength, hope, long suffering, this is the fruit of the Spirit.  All of the things that are fruit, have a seed (or promise of the Word) that can be sown and harvested in the life of the child of God to His praise and glory.
