John 12:44-45 (Amplified) says, "But Jesus loudly declared, The one who believes in Me does not only believe in and trust in and rely on Me, but in believing in Me, he believes in Him Who sent Me. And whoever sees Me sees Him Who sent Me."
Through Jesus' above statement, we can actually see, know and observe God's will for mankind. Jesus also says in John 5:30 (Amplified), "I am able to do nothing from Myself, independently of My Own accord, but only as I am taught by God and as I get His orders. Even as I hear, I judge, I decide as I am bidden to decide. As the Voice comes to Me, so I give a decision, and My judgment is right (just, righteous) because I do not seek or consult My Own will, I have no desire to do what is pleasing to Myself (My Own aim, My Own purpose), but only the will and pleasure of the Father Who sent Me."
In John 6:38-39 (Amplified) Jesus tells us, "For I have come down from Heaven not to do My Own will and purpose but to do the will and purpose of Him Who sent Me. And this is the will of Him Who sent Me, that I should not lose any of all that He has given Me, but that I should give new Life and raise them all up at the last day."
Just before ascending to Heaven, Jesus proves He was doing God's will, when He prayed in John 17:12 (Amplified), "While I was with them, I kept and preserved them in Your Name, in the knowledge and worship of You. Those You have given Me I guarded and protected, and not one of them has perished or is lost except the son of perdition (Judas Iscariot), the one who is now doomed to destruction (destined to be lost that the scripture might be fulfilled)."
The Church has been erroneously taught to believe that the chaos and misery abounding in the earth, is God's will. Galatians 5:6 (Amplified) tells us, "For if we are in Christ Jesus, neither circumcision nor uncircumcision counts for anything, but only faith activated and energized and expressed and working through Love." It's difficult for us to trust even those we know in this worldly realm. We might say that we "love them," but we still don't fully trust them.
The above scripture tells us that "faith works through Love." When we fully understand God's Love for us, then our faith is made perfect in Love. 1John 4:16-17 (Amplified) says, "And we know, understand, recognize, are conscious of, by observation and by experience, and believe, adhere to and put faith in and rely on the Love God cherishes for us. GOD IS LOVE and he who dwells and continues in Love dwells and continues in God and God dwells and continues in him. In this union and communion with Him, Love is brought to completion and attains perfection with us that we may have confidence for the day of judgment with assurance and boldness to face Him, because as He is, so are we in this world."
For millennia, we've been taught and have believed that "no one can ever know the will of God." Many have taken certain "half-truths" from the Word and used them to cement our beliefs. Many quote, "All things work for the good of those who love God" and teach that this means "Whether things happening are good or bad, it's God's will and it's for our good." This leaves satan "who goes about as a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour," the opportunity to do so. If we don't whether or not something is God's will or if it's satan, then how can we "resist the devil" with any amount of faith in our resistance?
When we don't understand God's Love for and to us, we are afraid to step out in our faith and in His Promises to us. 1John 4:18 (Amplified) says, "There is no fear in Love (dread does not exist) but full grown (complete, perfect) Love turns fear out of doors and expels every trace of terror! For fear brings with it the thought of punishment and so he who is afraid has not reached the full maturity of Love (is not yet grown into complete perfection)."
Let's bring this scripture into the light of today's Church. If you are afraid that God is going to break your leg, give you a cancer, or even take your life or the life of a loved one, all as a way of punishing you, then you do not know or have become acquainted with Love. If you still have doubt about God's operation through the Church and you're expecting His punishment, then you are in fear. The only way for you to have peace and faith, is by understanding God's Love for you.
Much has been taught about faith, but Galatians 5:6 (Amplified) tells us that, "Faith works by Love." If we don't know God's will concerning His Love, then how can our faith in His Love ever be "complete?" James 1:5-8 (Amplified) talks about how a "double-minded man is unstable in all his ways." A person cannot get more double-minded than not knowing whether it's God punishing you or satan trying to kill him or her. One cannot have faith, without trust and that comes with understanding God's Love for us.
We must know what God's will for us is. We've assumed that the way God dealt with those in the old covenant, is how He works with us. This has led us to mix our faith in two different operations of how God moves in the family. The most simple and primary way of knowing God's will for us, is watching Jesus.
We read God's will, His purpose, His Word His heart and His Love towards us in Hebrews 1:1-3 (Amplified) which says, "In many separate revelations, each of which set forth a portion of the Truth, and in different way, God spoke of old to our forefathers in and by the prophets. BUT in the last of these days HE HAS SPOKEN TO US IN THE PERSON OF A SON Whom He appointed Heir and Lawful Owner of all things, also by and through Whom He created the worlds and reaches of space and the ages of time. He made, produced, built, operated, and arranged them in order. He is the Sole Expression of the Glory of God (the Light Being, the Out-Raying or Radiance of the Divine), and He is the Perfect Imprint and Very Image of God's nature, upholding and maintaining and guiding and propelling the universe by His mighty Word (power) When He had by offering Himself accomplished our cleansing of sins and riddance of guilt, He sat down at the right hand of the Divine Majesty on High."
In John 5:19 (Amplified), Jesus told His followers, "I assure you, most solemnly I tell you, the Son is able to do nothing of Himself (of His Own accord), but He is able to do only what He sees the Father doing, for whatever the Father does is what the Son does in the same way (in His turn)."
When we witness Jesus healing the sick, then we know and see that it's God's will to heal the sick. When we witness Jesus delivering those who were bound, then we know it's God's will they are delivered. In other words, if you really want to know God's will for your own life (as well as others), then you only need to watch Jesus. We argue whether "it's God's will to heal certain people." Jesus healed them all! It's unfathomable how we ever allowed ourselves to be "talked out" of knowing God's will.
This is how we don't understand and believe in God's Love that John speaks about in 1John 4:17. When we don't believe that faith which works by Love, then we don't receive the results of the Word. We are no longer just covenant people, but we are God's Own family. We don't function by laws and rituals, but by faith in God's Love for us. We must allow the Holy Spirit to reveal Jesus in His human form as being the Light of God and then we can know His will for mankind. Jesus never did anything that was out of God's will and God's will hasn't changed from where Jesus is now. As a matter of fact, when Jesus sat down at God's right hand, the will of God was settled for all time.
