In My Name #1

Jesus prayed in John18:20-23(Amp), "Neither for these alone do I pray (it is not for their sake only that I make this request), but also for all those who will ever come to believe in (trust in, cling to, rely on) Me through their words and teaching. That they all may be one (just as) You Father, are in Me and I in You, that they also may be one In Us, so that the world may believe and be convinced that You have sent Me. I have given to them the Glory and Honor which You have given to Me, that they may be one (even) as we are One. I in them and You in Me, in order that they may become one and perfectly be united, that the world may know and (definitely) recognize that You sent Me and that You have Loved them (even) as You have Loved Me."

The above scriptures tell us that we don't only have Jesus' Name to use, but we are in His Name. We sometimes pray saying, "In Jesus' Name," without realizing that we not only have been given the right to use His Name, but we are in that Name and now have the same ability Jesus had. I married my wife on August 12,1961. At the end of the ceremony, she no longer was Mary McNulty, but had become Mrs. James Hayes. She took my name and now has everything my name has access to and is a joint heir with me. The two of us became one, as I am in her and she is in me, we've become one flesh. Eph.6:28-31(Amp) says, "Even so, husbands should love their wives as being (in a sense) their own bodies, He who loves his wife loves himself. No man ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and carefully protects and cherishes it as Christ does the Church. Because we are members (parts) of His Body. This mystery is very great, but I speak concerning (the relation of) Christ and the Church."

We are the Body and Jesus is the Head. The Body and the Head have the same Name. We don't just have the authority of saying His Name, but have the authority and power and Power of Attorney of that Name, because we are One with Him and bear His Name in all that He has and is. The Mystery Paul writes about is that like my wife and I are the same in this realm, so too are we with Christ Jesus.

If Mary went to the bank and used her maiden name, then she couldn't withdraw any money. She couldn't inherited the house, land or truck after my passing, if she tried using her maiden name. Our children couldn't inherit anything, nor could they make withdrawals without my name. We read in Acts 19:13-16(Amp), "Then some of the traveling Jewish exorcists also undertook to call the Name of the Lord Jesus over those who had evil spirits, saying, I solemnly implore and charge you by the Name of the Jesus Whom Paul preaches! Seven sons of a certain Jewish Chief Priest named Sceva were doing this. But (one) evil Spirit retorted, Jesus I know, and Paul I know about, but who are you? Then the man in whom the evil Spirit dwelt leaped upon them mastering two of them, and was so violent against them that they dashed out of that house (in fear) stripped naked and sounded."

Did they use the right Name when they tried casting out this Spirit? Wasn't it the same Name that Paul used? It was the same Name of Jesus, but they weren't in that Name and had no right to use that Name. My wife had no right to my name, before being married and she can't use her maiden name to retrieve things of my name. We have the right to use Jesus' Name, but do we understand that this is our Name as well? We are in His Name and have access to all that He has because of it. Rom.6:5(Amp) says, "For if we have become One with Him by sharing a death like His, we shall also be (one with Him in sharing) His Resurrection by a new life lived for God?" We don't have His Name, but like a husband and wife, we've become one with Christ Jesus and are IN HIS NAME.
