Prov.4:7(Amp) says, "The beginning of Wisdom, is Get Wisdom (skillful and Godly Wisdom). (For skillful and Godly Wisdom is the Principal thing). And with all you have gotten, get understanding (discernment, comprehension and interpretation)."
We sometimes deceive ourselves, depending more on our wisdom than the Wisdom God offers us. We try walking in faith and blessing, believing God's Word is true, but then we fail to seek Wisdom from Him. We should read all the Proverbs concerning wisdom, but let's read Prov.65:4-5(Amp), which says, "If you seek (Wisdom) as for silver and search for skillful and Godly Wisdom as for hidden treasure. Then you will understand the reverent and worshipful fear of the Lord and find the knowledge of our Omniscient God."
This Wisdom is available to every believer, but it requires time on our part to obtain it and grow in it. The Lord directs us to "search for it as for silver and hidden treasure." During the great Gold Rush, those who found gold were those who worked hard for that treasure. Many heard about the gold, but didn't want to search for it. Those who applied themselves, found it. Many Christians have ceased seeking and are satisfied with what little we have. God's Covenant with us through Jesus, has so much more for us in this life.
1Cor.1:30 tells us that God has made Wisdom in Christ Jesus to all who will seek it, but we must be hungry and seek for Him and His Word of Wisdom. Paul writes about our growing in Christ Jesus in Rom.1:17, saying we go "from faith to faith." This is a growing process offered to the child of God through Christ. Many of us have read the same Word, yet with differing opinions as to what is true for today and what isn't. God tells us that "His Word is forever settled in Heaven," so if it was true then, then it's true now for all who will believe. It's obvious that not all of us are applying the wisdom God offers. Paul writes in Rom.3:3-4(Amp), "What if some do not believe, does their lack of faith nullify and make voice the Word of God? By no means, let God be True and every man a liar."
We have only scratched the surface of God's Wisdom. God instructs us in Prov.7:4(Amp), "Say to skillful and Godly Wisdom You are my sister, and regard understanding or insight as your intimate friend." This is a closeness with Wisdom that comes from reading God's Word like seeking gold and riches. If we were searching for gold, then we would dig and work hard to find it. When we search for Godly Wisdom, then we must ask the Holy Spirit to reveal hidden Wisdom in His Word. Jesus said that the Holy Spirit would be our Teacher, so we should let Him teach us the Hidden Wisdom of God's Word. Jesus says in Matt.5:6(Amp), "Blessed and fortunate and happy and spiritually prosperous (in that state in which the born again child of God enjoys His favor and salvation) are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness (uprightness and right standing with God), for they shall be completely satisfied!" Do we still hunger for it?
