Get Wisdom #8

Prov.4:5(Amp) says, "The beginning of Wisdom is, Get Wisdom (skillful and Godly Wisdom). For skillful and Godly Wisdom is the Principal things."  1Cor.1:30(Amp) says, "But it is from Him that you have your life in Christ Jesus, Whom God made our Wisdom from God, (revealed to us a knowledge of the Divine Plan of salvation previously hidden, manifesting itself as), our Righteousness (thus making us and holy), and our Redemption (providing our ransom from eternal penalty for sin)." Wisdom is the Word of God and Jesus is the Word of God made flesh for us. Rev.19:13(Amp) tells us that "Jesus is dressed in a robe dyed by dipping in blood; and the title by which He is called is The Word of God."

God's Word is Wisdom, but we don't have has skillful wisdom on how to use it. I can change a breaker in my home's breaker box, but that doesn't mean I can work on the power lines connecting electricity to my home. This requires someone who is skillful in what he/she does. Many have been able to operate in certain portions of God's Wisdom (His Word), but they're not skillful in doing so. Thus, we don't see all the results that God has Promised in His Word.

If you're reading these blogs, then you're serious about learning and increasing in your walk with the Lord. Most born-again believers have read the four Gospels. Jesus, Who is the Word, was showing us how to become skillful in how to use it. When we first got saved, my wife and I took I kids to visit at a nursing home every Saturday. We gave our kids small trinkets and goodies to share with the residents. We also prayed for the residents and just spent time with them. One day we came across a woman whose hands had formed into such tight fists that she was unable to open them. I had read Mark16 where Jesus said, "These signs will follow those who believe, they shall lay hands on the sick and they shall recover." I don't know about you, but I believe this. When I laid hands on her though, nothing happened.

When we returned home, I asked the Lord why she wasn't healed and He took me to Luke13:11-13, where a woman who was bowed over and couldn't straighten. She didn't need healing, but needed loosed from an infirmity. I didn't know there was a difference before God showed me. So, when we went to the nursing home the next week, I sought out this woman. She was still sitting in her chair and her little hands were still knotted up. This time I said, "In the Name of Jesus, I loose you from this infirmity." Instantly, her hands opened and she was free. I began to realize that all the miracles and wonderful things Jesus did, were "skillful and Godly Wisdom."

I began to watch His ministry, rather than simply read about it. I began to see that Jesus used skillful Wisdom like a mechanic uses tools. I also began to watch how Jesus did those things. Sometimes Jesus simply spoke, while other times He touched the people. Sometimes Jesus asked the persons what they wanted, and they went away with what they requested. I began to understand what Prov.4 was saying about our getting skillful and Godly Wisdom.

Jesus was our Teacher, and He came to teach us about the Kingdom of Heaven. Jesus tells us in John14:12(Amp), "Those who believe, the works that I do, you can do also." These aren't passed away or only for certain believers. We've lacked skillful and Godly Wisdom to learn from the Master about how to use His Word with skill and trust. We can't go at everything like bulldozers, without seeking and asking Him for instructions. Jesus says in Matt.7:7(Amp), "Keep on asking and it will be given to you."
